Two people arrested on suspicion of causing fires in Makedonski Brod and Dollnen

Police authorities have detained two individuals suspected of involvement in setting fires in open areas across different sections of the Pelagonia and Western Macedonia regions. On August 7, 2026, police officers from SPB Makedonski Brod apprehended G.S., aged 45, a resident of Greshnicë within the municipality of Makedonski Brod. According to police reports, G.S.

is under suspicion for repeatedly causing fires in undeveloped open areas. Furthermore, on the same day, he was detained around 11:30 in the area situated between the villages of Greshnicë and Sllatinë, where authorities suspect he initiated another blaze. Later that day, at approximately 17:00, a separate incident occurred when police officers from SPB Prilep detained G.A., aged 76, who originated from Skopje.

This individual was apprehended in the village of Sarandinovë, located in the municipality of Dollneni. These arrests highlight ongoing efforts by law enforcement to curb destructive activities related to open-air fires. The repeated incidents suggest a pattern of individuals deliberately causing damage through uncontrolled burning in rural and peripheral areas throughout the region.
