Ukraine attacks oil refinery in Moscow

A Ukrainian drone attack has reportedly damaged a structure at the Gazpromneft oil refinery located in Moscow, Russia. According to the latest available data, this facility is the largest oil refinery in the Moscow region. In 2024, the plant processed 11.6 million tons of oil, yielding 2.9 million tons of gasoline and 3.2 million tons of diesel.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported the incident, stating that the attack demonstrated the reach of Ukraine’s long-range capabilities into the Moscow region. In a post on X, the president noted that the oil refinery was struck at an estimated distance of 500 kilometers from Ukraine. Zelensky also extended thanks to the personnel of the Security Service of Ukraine following the attack.

The reported damage to the major oil processing facility in Moscow underscores ongoing military activity targeting key energy infrastructure within Russia. The incident draws attention to the operational capacity of Ukrainian long-range weaponry against critical industrial sites, such as this significant oil refinery.
