Ukrainians set a national record, destroying 61 Russian Molniya drones in one day

Drone pilots from the Sirius Battalion, part of Ukraine’s 118th Mechanized Brigade, reportedly set a national record by downing 61 Russian Molniya drones in a single day. According to the Ukrainian army, this achievement doubled the previous national record, which stood at 44 drones. The operation, which tracked the hostile drones throughout the day, commenced in the early morning hours and concluded in the late afternoon.

The first of the 61 drones was intercepted at 04:10, and the final one was downed at 21:47. This sustained effort resulted in an average interception rate of one drone every 17.5 minutes for the crew. The reported success significantly raises the benchmark for anti-drone operations across Ukrainian defense forces.

The sustained engagement highlights the operational capabilities of the Sirius Battalion in countering aerial threats. The consistent effort allowed the team to maintain continuous operational readiness throughout the duration of the engagement against the Russian drones.
