Police in Shtip detained an individual on June 29, 2026, following allegations of extortion. At approximately 11:45 AM, officers from the Shtip Public Security Police (SPB) apprehended T.A., aged 39, in the city. The detention was based on suspicion of T.A.’s involvement in criminal acts related to financial coercion.
The initial complaint stemmed from K.B., a 26-year-old student from Turkey who was temporarily residing in Shtip. K.B. reported that on a previous date, June 22, 2026, T.A.
had allegedly demanded a sum of 300 euros from him, claiming the payment was necessary for him to pass an examination scheduled for June 29, 2026. In response to the report, authorities coordinated efforts with the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office of Shtip. During the subsequent investigation, three 100-euro banknotes were recovered and submitted for forensic processing.
Following the receipt of this money, police officers immediately took T.A. into custody. She was subsequently detained at the local police station.
The incident highlights an ongoing focus on maintaining security within the community, particularly concerning students at the local university, ‘Goce Dellçev.’ The arrest marks a significant development in the investigation into the alleged scheme involving the examination fees. Authorities continue to process the evidence collected in Shtip to determine the full scope of the alleged criminal activity.
