Veliaj and the lawyer are missing; the session against the Mayor of Tirana is postponed – lawyer Ndreca fined 50 thousand lekë

The scheduled court session concerning Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj did not proceed as planned this Tuesday, resulting in a postponement until September 15. The delay was attributed to the simultaneous absence of Veliaj, his legal counsel, Plarent Ndreca, and his partner, Ajoa Xoxa. According to reports, the postponement was formally requested by the defense’s lawyer, Plarent Ndreca.

He cited a scheduling conflict, indicating that his availability was required for another civil matter where he was representing Arbjan Mazniku. Separately, Xoxa’s lawyer stated that the unmarried woman would be unable to attend the proceedings. This inability to appear was based on a medical assessment from a physician who examined her following childbirth, confirming she remained in a specific physical condition.

Despite the absences on the defense side, the court session was attended by the case prosecutors, Altin Dumani and Ols Dado. These prosecutors actively refuted several claims made by the defense team during the proceedings. The postponement marks a significant interruption in the judicial process involving Veliaj.

The differing justifications provided for the non-attendance—ranging from professional commitments of the lawyer to documented medical status—have necessitated rescheduling the entire session. The court’s decision to postpone ensures all involved parties, including the key figures and their respective legal representatives, can participate when the matter is heard again.
