The State Police have reported that during the period spanning June through the first two weeks of July, 29 individuals have been either arrested or processed in connection with arson cases. In the most recent 24 hours, the police made two arrests in Kavajë and Vorë, while an additional person was criminally processed in Mallakastër for three separate incidents of fire. The damage attributed to these incidents was varied across the regions.
In Kavajë, the flames resulted in damage to a grove of olive trees and an estimated 300 orange trees. Similarly, an area of fruit trees sustained damage in Vorë. In Mallakastër, a fire reportedly caused by an electrical spark during vehicle towing damaged dozens of apple trees.
The police department issued a public appeal to the community, specifically addressing citizens, farmers, and landowners. Authorities urged the public to refrain from starting any fires and to report any suspected instances of arson. The police guaranteed anonymity for reporters and assured an immediate response to any reported incidents.
These actions underscore the ongoing efforts by the police to investigate and deter property destruction.
