Groups Raise Concerns About RTK Board Selection Process
The Association of Kosovar Journalists, Lëvizja FOL, the Institute for Justice of Kosovo, and activist Flutura Kusari have voiced significant concerns regarding the selection of members for the Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK) Board. The organizations argue that the process was flawed and did not adhere to established standards for recommending board appointments. Their formal response highlighted multiple issues contributing to this assessment, including perceived irregularities within the selection process itself.
Furthermore, the groups reported a tense and confrontational atmosphere developed during the process, largely influenced by interactions from certain members of the Vetëvendosje Movement within the National Assembly. Specifically, the organizations are calling for the National Assembly to intervene and address these concerns. They believe the current situation requires immediate attention to ensure a transparent and accountable selection process for the RTK Board.
The groups’ statements underscore the importance of upholding standards in public broadcasting governance within Kosovo.
