After the protest, Muja invites dairy farmers’ representatives to a meeting

Following a protest staged by dairy farmers outside the Ministry of Agriculture, the Minister of Agriculture, Armend Muja, convened a meeting with dairy representatives. Sources present at the scene indicated that the minister’s advisor, Venhar Isufi, instructed the protesters that they were expected at the office within ten minutes. The invitation to this discussion followed the farmers’ demonstration, during which they voiced deep dissatisfaction regarding the current state of the dairy sector.

The primary demands articulated by the farmers centered on an immediate cessation of milk imports from regional countries, with some citing a period of four days without proper milk collection. During the protest, the farmers displayed milk in front of the ministry’s entrance, placed containers on the building’s windows, and attempted to bring milk inside the premises. They emphasized their demand for the immediate resumption of milk collection services and enhanced protection for the industry.

The mobilization of the farmers culminated in this direct engagement with the ministry. The subsequent meeting aims to address the core concerns raised by the dairy producers. Officials are expected to discuss the economic viability of local milk supply against the backdrop of regional imports, addressing the operational challenges faced by the farming community.
