Ukrainian forces reportedly conducted a drone attack on the Omsk Oil Refinery in the Russian city of Omsk on Monday. The facility, which serves as a major center for fuel production, is situated over 2,500 kilometers from the Russia-Ukraine border. The Omsk Oil Refinery is noted as the largest in Russia, boasting a designed annual capacity of approximately 22 million tons of crude oil.
It is responsible for producing essential petroleum products, including gasoline, diesel, aviation fuel, and other materials utilized by the Russian military. Previously, the facility had been considered outside the operational range of deep strike missions originating from Kyiv. However, according to reports from Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces, the attack resulted in damage to critical plant equipment.
Specifically, the main oil refining unit, identified as the most vital component of the refinery, sustained damage.
