Over 300,000 tourists in 5 months, neighboring countries warn about safety in Kosovo

During the first five months of the year, Kosovo recorded an influx of 306,447 foreign visitors. The majority of these international tourists originated from key markets, including Albania, Germany, Switzerland, and Turkey. According to data compiled by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the appeal of the nation’s diverse regions is evident in the visitation patterns across several key cities.

Among the most frequented destinations are Prizren, Pristina, Peja, and Gjakova. Prizren has been highlighted as the most desired tourist destination, largely due to its rich historical tapestry, which includes a historic center, a prominent fortress, and notable religious sites such as mosques and churches, alongside cultural events like the DokuFest festival. Pristina continues to serve as the primary gateway for international visitors entering the country.

Furthermore, the regional strengths of the other listed cities draw specific types of travelers. Peja maintains its reputation as a central hub for mountain and adventure tourism, catering to outdoor enthusiasts. Meanwhile, Gjakova draws attention for its well-known Grand Bazaar.

Collectively, these destinations showcase the varied appeal of Kosovo, offering everything from deep historical immersion to modern adventure travel, solidifying the region’s growing appeal to global tourists.
