Accusations for posting on Facebook, suspected of inciting religious hatred

The Special Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kosovo has initiated legal proceedings by filing charges against an individual identified as I.K. The charges pertain to the criminal act of “Incitement of division and unrest.” According to a recent media statement from the office, the indictment alleges that on April 16, 2026, the defendant utilized the social network platform, Facebook, to engage in activities intended to incite and disseminate public hatred and unrest among various religious groups. The statement detailed that the prosecution contends the defendant publicly spread hatred and unrest between religious communities through incriminating actions.

These alleged actions, according to the indictment, aimed at undermining interreligious coexistence within the Republic of Kosovo and thereby jeopardizing public order and peace. The case has been formally presented for review before the Basic Court in Pristina. This court is expected to review the filed accusations and issue a ruling on the charges brought against the defendant.
