Residents of Magurë e Lipjanit have formally submitted a petition demanding that individuals implicated in a recent local incident be prohibited from returning to the village. The decision followed a community meeting where residents discussed the latest developments concerning the attack that resulted in injuries to UÇK veteran Bekim Meta. At the conclusion of the gathering, it was agreed that the formal petition would be lodged with both the Kosovo Police and the Prosecutor’s Office.
The incident in question occurred four days prior. Reports indicate that a group of people, allegedly from the Roma community, attacked Skënder Shahini near his home, as well as the veteran Bekim Meta. Ramë Bardhi, a member of the Magurë village council, stated during the meeting that the individuals he identified as responsible for the event should not be permitted to return to the community.
The residents’ action underscores a deep concern within the village regarding local safety and accountability following the violence. The signed petition serves as a collective demand for authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly and enforce measures preventing the return of those deemed responsible for the disturbance. The meeting focused heavily on ensuring that the rule of law is upheld within the community following the serious nature of the incident.
The submission of the petition marks the community’s official escalation of its concerns to regional legal authorities.
