Apple confirmed which devices will receive iOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate

Following the presentations of iOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, iPadOS 27, and watchOS 27 at WWDC 2026, Apple released the comprehensive list detailing which hardware will support the new operating systems. A key point confirmed for users is that no model currently supported by existing versions will be excluded from the upgrade cycle. However, the most advanced artificial intelligence functionalities introduced with the new software suite will be exclusive to the newest generation of Apple devices.

For the iPhone, iOS 27 support is broad, extending to all phones that currently run iOS 26. This includes the iPhone SE (second generation and subsequent models), the entire iPhone 11 series (including the 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max), and all models from the iPhone 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17 series. The iPadOS 27 update will support the iPad mini (6th generation and newer) and the standard iPad (generations unspecified in the initial release).

While the details for macOS and watchOS support were presented, the core message emphasizes continued compatibility across established hardware lines. Overall, Apple has maintained a commitment to longevity in its software support strategy. Users can plan for upgrades knowing that their existing devices remain functional.

Nevertheless, consumers interested in accessing the cutting-edge AI features must ensure their hardware aligns with the latest requirements set forth by the new iOS and related operating systems.
