Barcelona close to sacrificing Ferran Torres to save 8 million euros

Barcelona is reportedly prepared to consider receiving transfer offers for striker Ferran Torres this summer. The primary obstacle to retaining the player is a contractual clause stemming from his transfer to the Catalan club. According to recent reports, Torres is approaching the final year of his existing agreement with Barcelona, which is set to expire in June 2027.

Despite his status, the parties have reportedly been unable to reach a mutual agreement regarding the continuation of his playing contract. This difficulty is attributed to a specific stipulation included in the terms of his transfer from Manchester City at the end of 2021. This clause mandates that if the Spanish international, Torres, signs a new contract with Barcelona, the club must pay an additional sum estimated between seven and eight million euros.

Should this renewal take place, the total financial outlay associated with Torres’s transfer would consequently rise to approximately 73 million euros. Given the significant financial implications presented by this contractual hurdle, Barcelona’s management has reportedly determined that the club must remain flexible. Consequently, the club is now positioned to evaluate and consider any incoming offers for Ferran Torres, signaling a potential change in his status at the club.
