Behrami: The special is based on narratives originating from the Serbian state apparatus

Artan Behrami, a Deputy for the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), has publicly accused the Specialized Chambers of basing substantial elements of their judicial proceedings against former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK) on materials and frameworks he believes originate from the Serbian state apparatus. In a formal statement, Behrami asserted that Serbia has functioned as a source of disinformation within the ongoing trials concerning the former UÇK leadership. Behrami specifically alleged that Serbia is promoting a narrative aimed at reviving policies associated with Slobodan Milošević and advocating for the ethnic cleansing of the Albanian population.

He cited recent statements from Serbian minister Snezhana Paunović, whom he claimed called for the cleansing of Kosovo of Albanians, presenting this as evidence of a continuing pattern within the official Serbian state narrative. According to Behrami, the judicial process exhibits a significant paradox due to this alleged external influence. He contended that the evidence and the overarching narratives utilized by the Specialized Chambers appear to draw heavily from sources tied to Serbian state interests, rather than being purely domestically derived.

The statement highlighted concerns that the framing of the legal proceedings risks being unduly influenced by narratives originating from Belgrade.
