Faton Bislimi, legal counsel concerning the Kosovo issue in the United States, has urged Kosovo’s governing bodies to establish a resolution regarding the country’s integration into an American gas project. Bislimi characterized the matter as a strategic concern extending beyond mere energy considerations. He argued that the discussion surrounding the gas infrastructure should not be confined solely to economic costs or benefits, given the direct link between energy resources, national security, and foreign policy.
Speaking on the “Interview of the Week” program on KosovoPress, Bislimi advised that Kosovo must thoroughly evaluate all viable alternatives to ensure its participation in the project. These options include, but are not limited to, the proposed gas terminal in Vlorë or other potential infrastructural arrangements. His central emphasis was maintaining the possibility of Kosovo’s inclusion within the scope of the American initiative.
The former deputy’s statements highlight a call for comprehensive national planning concerning the gas sector. Bislimi’s counsel suggests that the path forward for Kosovo requires a multi-faceted approach that addresses geopolitical implications alongside energy needs to secure its role in the development plans associated with the American gas project.
