Brother calls for protest regarding the inclusion of Kosovo in the American gas project

Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Avdullah Hoti of the Democratic League of Kosovo, stated that the rejection of the American gas project by the current Kosovo government, led by the Vetëvendosje Movement, persists despite consistent encouragement from the American Administration. High-ranking American officials have reportedly emphasized the importance of Kosovo’s participation in this regional energy initiative, both within Kosovo and in Washington. In a public statement, Hoti highlighted that Kosovo faces the potential of becoming the sole nation in the Western Balkans excluded from this development project.

He further suggested that defending the project should be achieved through democratic means of protest. The statement noted that the US has indicated readiness for energy cooperation with Kosovo, including gas infrastructure. Hoti’s remarks underscore a divergence in policy regarding the regional energy development.

The emphasis from the American side has been on securing Kosovo’s inclusion in the gas project, framing it as a key element of broader strategic cooperation. The differing stances highlight ongoing discussions concerning Kosovo’s energy sector integration within regional frameworks involving American interests.
