The National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo (IKShPK) has reported a rise in measles infections across the country. According to data spanning from April 16 to August 3, 2026, a total of 99 confirmed measles cases have been documented in Kosovo. Notably, the figures show an uptick in transmission, with 21 new cases registered during the last week alone.
The detailed breakdown of the cases highlights several areas experiencing higher rates of infection. Pristina recorded the highest number of cases with 33 confirmed instances. Following this, Lushnjë-Kosovo reported 25 cases, while Ferizaj accounted for 12 cases, and Kaçanik reported seven cases.
Several other municipalities also reported smaller numbers of cases; three cases were reported in Drenas, Lipjan, and Obiliq, and two cases were reported across Gjilan, Skenderaj, Shtime, and Vushtrri. Furthermore, one case was recorded in Deçan, Graçanicë, Podujevë, Shtërpcë, and Viti. These statistics underscore the current spread of the infectious disease within Kosovo.
The continuous monitoring by the IKShPK is aimed at tracking the spread and managing public health responses. The recent surge in cases necessitates continued vigilance from public health authorities to control the spread and advise the population on preventative measures against measles.
