The National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo (IKShPK) has reported that a total of 99 confirmed cases of measles were recorded across Kosovo during the period spanning April 16 to August 3, 2026. According to data released by the institute, the incidence of this infectious disease shows an upward trend, with 21 new cases registered in the most recent week alone. Geographically, the burden of measles cases varied across different regions of Kosovo.
Pristina reported the highest number of cases with 33 confirmed instances. Following this, Lushnjë-Kosovo recorded 25 cases, while Ferizaj accounted for 12 cases, and Kaçanik reported seven cases. Several other areas also reported smaller numbers; Drenas, Lipjan, and Obiliq each reported three cases, and Gjilan, Skenderaj, Shtime, and Vushtrri each reported two.
Additionally, Deçan, Graçanicë, Podujevë, Shtërpcë, and Viti each reported one case. IKShPK highlighted that the current accumulation of measles cases in Kosovo is notably higher when compared to the same time frame in the last year. This data underscores the need for continued vigilance regarding vaccination rates and public health measures to control the spread of measles throughout the region.
