DASH: Strategic Dialogue with Kosovo when Conditions and Commitments to Serbs are Met

The United States has indicated that the resumption of the strategic Dialogue with Kosovo is contingent upon the establishment of specific preconditions. According to statements made in response to inquiries, these necessary conditions include the fulfillment of commitments made by Pristina regarding the Serb community within the region. In a communication to Radio Free Europe, a spokesperson for the U.S.

State Department reiterated the status of the talks. The spokesperson noted that the strategic Dialogue was suspended in September 2025 and that this suspension was declared “for an indefinite period.” The stated reason for the pause centered on concerns regarding the actions undertaken by the current government in Kosovo. The department affirmed the United States’ ongoing commitment to advancing the mutual interests of the nation and the people of Kosovo.

The statement concluded by expressing eagerness to resume the strategic Dialogue, emphasizing that progress is dependent on the development of appropriate conditions. Specifically, the U.S. noted that a prerequisite for restarting the high-level dialogue involves Kosovo meeting its established commitments concerning the rights and status of Serbs residing in the territory.
