Washington, D.C. – During the recent Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank, Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska-Koçoska met with Deputy Director General Bo Li to discuss North Macedonia’s economic strategy. The meeting focused on the government’s ongoing commitment to fiscal consolidation and reducing the budget deficit.

Minister Dimitrieska-Koçoska emphasized the government’s plan to achieve a budget deficit below 3% over the medium term. This strategy involves a gradual approach to fiscal consolidation while simultaneously supporting economic growth through strategic capital expenditure within the national budget. “The Government and the Ministry of Finance remain firmly committed to defining gradual fiscal consolidation and simultaneously supporting economic growth through high capital expenditure in the budget,” Dimitrieska-Koçoska stated.
