European Parliament adopts report on Kosovo

The European Parliament adopted a report concerning Kosovo in Brussels, which reaffirmed support for the nation’s trajectory toward European integration. The document reiterated the call for five EU member states that have not yet recognized Kosovo’s independence to do so without further delay. According to Riho Terras, the rapporteur for Kosovo in the European Parliament, the report passed with 412 votes in favor, 174 against, and 58 abstentions.

In the adopted text, Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) expressed their support for Kosovo’s application for membership in the European Union, which was submitted in October 2022. The Parliament emphasized that the continuation of reforms and progress within the EU-facilitated dialogue remains crucial for Kosovo’s continued European path. Furthermore, the report called upon the Council of the EU to take necessary actions to advance the integration process.

The proceedings underscore the Parliament’s commitment to strengthening ties between Kosovo and the European Union. The vote reflects a broad consensus among MEPs regarding the importance of Kosovo’s alignment with European standards and institutions.
