Former AMP officials are convicted for illegally employing agent Mustafa Sheqerin

The Tirana Court issued a verdict this Wednesday, finding two former officials of the Police Supervisory Agency (AMP) guilty of abuse of office. The individuals convicted were Artjol Saliasi, identified as the former deputy director, and Gëzim Sala, the commanding director, alongside the head of finance and support services. The court initially sentenced the three former officials to nine months in prison.

However, due to the expedited nature of the trial, this sentence was reduced by one-third, resulting in an initial term of six months of imprisonment. Ultimately, the court suspended the prison sentence and converted the punishment into one year of probation. The charges stemmed from an incident that took place at the Rinasit roundabout.

According to court reports, the confrontation occurred while a vehicle was stopped, awaiting the arrival of Mustafa Sheqeri and Gilmando Dani. At the scene, three individuals exited the vehicle and opened fire using automatic weapons. Gilmando Dani was among those present, having sustained injuries.

The judgment addresses the misconduct related to the incident, holding the former officials accountable for their actions within the scope of their duties at AMP. The ruling concludes the legal proceedings concerning the abuse of office allegations.
