Haziri: We were invited by Kurti to discuss the President, but ended with an offer for government.

LDK Leader Criticizes Process Surrounding Presidential Election

Kosovo’s Deputy Leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lutfi Haziri, has expressed strong criticism regarding the procedures used in the election of the president. Speaking on the Pressing program on T7, Haziri described the approach as “unserious” and lacking in due process. Haziri stated that the LDK was invited to participate in discussions concerning the election of the president.

However, he alleged that subsequent meetings concluded with proposals for co-government. “This step has been the election of the president, we are invited to speak about the president… Now hold me some meetings and end with an offer for government is unserious,” Haziri explained, adding that he felt the LDK was being manipulated. Following recent developments, the LDK has announced it will no longer hold meetings with Prime Minister Albin Kurti concerning the presidential election.

Haziri emphasized the importance of respecting established institutional processes. The LDK’s stance reflects concerns about the manner in which negotiations surrounding the election of the president were conducted. The comments from Haziri highlight a key point of contention in the ongoing political discussions surrounding the selection of Kosovo’s next president.
