High temperatures, IKSHPK appeals for caution: Children should not be left in vehicles, even for a few minutes

The Kosovo National Institute of Public Health (IKSHPK) has issued a public advisory urging increased caution among citizens during periods of high temperatures, citing potential risks to public health. Through its official notice, the IKSHPK recommends several preventative measures for the general populace. A key recommendation from the institute is for citizens to maintain regular hydration by drinking sufficient amounts of water.

Additionally, the public is advised to abstain from consuming sugary drinks and alcohol. To mitigate heat exposure, the IKSHPK suggests limiting outdoor activities, particularly during the peak heat hours between 11:00 and 17:00. Individuals are encouraged to remain in shaded or cooler indoor environments during this time.

Furthermore, the institute advises the wearing of light-colored, breathable clothing, such as cotton, to help regulate body temperature. The IKSHPK specifically stresses the need for heightened care regarding the elderly population, who are recognized as being more susceptible to the adverse effects of high heat. In addition to these general guidelines, the institute also reminds the public that children must not be left unsupervised, even for brief periods, to ensure their safety.

Adherence to these guidelines is crucial for the well-being of all citizens as temperatures rise.
