The Regional Company “Gjakova” has reported the discovery of multiple instances of illegal water infrastructure practices during recent inspections across the Gjakova, Rahovec, and Prizren regions. The field inspection was conducted to identify and prevent the misuse and unauthorized tapping of the public drinking water supply. During the inspection conducted in the Great Corinth area, significant consumer violations were documented.
These violations included establishing illegal connections for self-supply purposes, bypassing established consumption metering systems, and unauthorized tampering with the main water supply installation. Furthermore, inspectors noted the presence of unauthorized take-offs equipped with valves situated before the main water line. KRU “Gjakova” stated that these activities represent serious breaches of water usage regulations.
In response to these findings, the company confirmed that legal measures have been initiated against the responsible consumers. The company emphasized that all instances of illegal connection activity will be addressed strictly, and any confirmed illegal connection will result in the immediate interruption of the water service. These actions underscore the company’s commitment to maintaining the integrity and security of the regional water distribution network.
The systematic enforcement aims to curb wastage and ensure that the allocated water resources are utilized appropriately by authorized parties, thereby protecting the public water supply system.
