Illegal nets found in Ujman and several rivers—they had caught dozens of fish.

The Kosovo Sport and Recreational Fishermen’s Federation (FPSRK) has reported the confiscation of numerous illegal nets found across various waterways throughout the country. These discoveries were made following an increased effort in monitoring and controlling activities in both rivers and lakes, prompted by recent reports from the public. In a statement issued via its Facebook page, the FPSRK noted that the intensification of monitoring efforts was a direct response to multiple reports received in recent days.

The federation confirmed that, as a result of these enhanced controls, a substantial quantity of illegal nets was seized. These illegal fishing gear were recovered from multiple locations, including Ujman, Krujë, Vermicë, Gjakovë, Shejtë Stream, and several other sites across Kosovo’s aquatic systems. The federation emphasized that these control measures are not temporary.

It stated that monitoring and inspections of the rivers and lakes will continue without interruption. The FPSRK acknowledged the contributions of its dedicated members and personnel involved in these ongoing enforcement activities. The sustained focus on these areas aims to manage and regulate fishing practices across the nation’s water bodies.
