This demographic shift necessitates a strategic review and optimization of the current school network. Concerns have been raised regarding numerous small, rural educational institutions.
These schools often enroll only two or three students, which limits students’ opportunities for peer socialization, diminishes competitive academic experiences, and frequently results in a lack of access to modern technological resources. To ensure a higher standard of educational quality, the proposal suggests consolidating these smaller units with larger, proximate schools. The Ministry of Education asserts that this consolidation is primarily aligned with the best interests of the students, a priority guiding current policy directives.
In response to parliamentary inquiries regarding network optimization and subsequent speculation about workforce reductions, the Minister of Education and Science, Vesna Janevska, issued a clarification. She explicitly stated that no teaching personnel will face job losses as a result of these structural adjustments. This reassurance addresses concerns raised by deputies concerning potential layoffs accompanying the necessary streamlining of the school infrastructure.
