Konjufca asserted that the country’s strategic alignment, particularly its close ties with Russia, its refusal to support sanctions imposed on Moscow, and its ongoing military cooperation with China, pose tangible risks to regional security. During the session, Konjufca addressed inflammatory rhetoric emanating from Belgrade.
He specifically referenced comments made by Serbian minister Snezhana Paunoviq, who reportedly stated that she would undertake ethnic cleansing if she held the position previously held by Milošević. According to Konjufca, the perceived tolerance demonstrated by the European Union toward such sentiments within Serbia has inadvertently encouraged Belgrade to sustain its historical claims of regional dominance. The minister suggested that the current geopolitical environment, marked by Serbia’s proximity to its neighbors, continues to fuel its assertive political stance.
Konjufca’s remarks underscored deep divisions concerning the path toward stability in Kosovo.
