LSDM: Water analysis in Gostivar not until August 20, and until then people will be advised to boil water

LSDM has publicly challenged the Ministry of Health regarding the release schedule for drinking water analysis results in Gostivar. The party is demanding that the findings be published immediately, rather than adhering to the timeline previously announced. Minister of Health, Sasho Klekovski, stated that the comprehensive analyses of the water in Gostivar would not be available for publication until August 20th.

In response, LSDM representatives voiced significant concern over the delay, questioning the reliability of the data if testing results are postponed for two weeks. They cited past health concerns, including reports of yellow fever outbreaks and bacterial contamination in the local supply, suggesting that a delayed report undermines confidence in the water quality assessment. The critique also addressed the official assurances of accuracy.

Critics questioned how the results could be deemed “technically accurate” given the extended waiting period. Furthermore, LSDM raised concerns regarding the actions of the Minister of Police, alleging that hyperchlorination levels are being managed while simultaneously advising citizens to keep the water flowing. The dispute centers on transparency and public health assurance.

While the Ministry has set a specific date for the release of the water quality report for Gostivar, opposition groups maintain that the timeline raises doubts about the immediate safety status of the municipal supply. They are pressing for an expedited release of the findings to address public apprehension.
