MASH to finance 14 joint research-scientific projects between North Macedonia and Austria

The Ministry of Education and Science has announced the allocation of state funding for fourteen significant joint research and scientific initiatives between Macedonia and Austria. These projects are strategically designed to target sectors identified as having high developmental potential under the nation’s Smart Specialization Strategy. The scope of collaboration is diverse, focusing on key modern industries.

Specific areas of concentration include smart agriculture and the development of higher-value food products, information and communication technologies (ICT), the electromechanical sector aligned with Industry 4.0 principles, sustainable materials and smart buildings, future energy solutions, and advanced tourism methodologies. Each of the fourteen proposed projects will receive dedicated state budget finance amounting to 600 million denars. The implementation period for these collaborative ventures has been set for two years, with operations scheduled to commence on April 1, 2026.

The formal agreements underpinning these substantial collaborations were signed today by the Minister of Education and Science, Vesna Janevska, alongside the designated project directors. This multi-faceted investment underscores a commitment to technological advancement across multiple sectors. The emphasis on “smart” technologies—from smart grids to smart farming practices—aims to modernize key economic pillars, thereby boosting regional competitiveness and fostering sustainable growth through international partnership.
