Matt Damon detailed the physical transformation required for his role as Odysseus in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, The Odyssey. The 55-year-old actor anchors the ensemble cast in the movie, which is scheduled for a cinematic release on April 17. During a recent appearance on the podcast Good Hang with Amy Poehler, Damon discussed the rigorous commitment he made to alter his lifestyle to achieve the necessary physique.
He revealed that to portray the character, matt had to significantly reduce his weight, dropping to approximately 76 kilograms from his typical weight range of 84–91 kilograms. According to his account, Director Christopher Nolan specifically envisioned Odysseus possessing a “strong and agile” physical presence. Damon noted the distinct challenges associated with building muscle mass later in life.
“It’s completely different to build muscle in your 50s. It’s very difficult. It requires a complete change in lifestyle,” damon explained.
He emphasized that such a transformation demands total dedication. “You just have to dedicate yourself completely, and that is the only way,” he added, underscoring the depth of commitment required for the role.
