Prime Minister Christian Mickoski has asserted that the head of Gostivar and the entire chain of individuals deemed responsible must accept moral responsibility for the poisoning incident affecting the citizens of Gostivar. Mickoski indicated that the Institute of Public Health fulfilled its necessary duties, placing the subsequent responsibility on the Public Prosecution to determine the criminal qualification of the event. He further noted that since the water supply infrastructure in Gostivar was a project funded by external sources and supported by the Government, the individual accountable for the project’s execution would also be the supervisor who signed the final completion report.
“From the first to the last must bear moral responsibility, regardless of what the Public Prosecution will address regarding the level of responsibility,” Mickoski stated. The Prime Minister emphasized that the burden of accountability extends across the board. “But I expect the mayor and all others in the hierarchy to bear responsibility,” he concluded.
The remarks underscore Mickoski’s expectation for accountability from local leadership and project oversight personnel concerning the contamination issue in Gostivar. The focus remains on ensuring that all parties involved in the water project assume their respective responsibilities.
