During an operational traffic control conducted in the Republic of North Macedonia on the afternoon of August 5, 2026, authorities documented numerous violations involving motorized vehicles. Between 5:00 PM and 11:00 PM, police units enforced traffic regulations, resulting in 222 recorded traffic violations. The enforcement initiative specifically targeted motorcycle riders and general vehicular compliance.
Among the documented infractions, the most frequent violation involved safety gear; 186 drivers were cited for operating a motorcycle without wearing the required protective helmet. Furthermore, the operation led to the detention of 14 drivers. These individuals were detained for allegedly committing criminal acts under Article 297-a of the Penal Code, primarily for operating vehicles without valid licenses.
As a result of the violations, 14 motorcycles were seized by authorities. In addition to the helmet violations and detentions, officers sanctioned 197 instances of other types of traffic violations across the area. The comprehensive control effort underscored the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ focus on improving safety standards for all drivers.
The data collected highlights persistent issues regarding adherence to licensing requirements and mandatory protective equipment when operating a motorcycle. These measures are intended to enhance overall traffic safety and compliance within the region.
