The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MPB) has announced the successful identification and detention of the individual suspected of involvement in the burning of official vehicles near the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Skopje. The investigation commenced following the report of a fire that occurred on June 15, 2026, at approximately 12:13. The incident involved two official vehicles belonging to the Bulgarian Embassy premises in Skopje.
In response to the event, the Skopje Police Department initiated a thorough investigation to determine the cause and locate the responsible party. Through coordinated operational efforts, authorities were able to identify and apprehend the suspected person shortly after the incident. The individual, identified as I.D.
(44) and a resident of Skopje, has been taken into custody at the local police station. During the operational procedures conducted by law enforcement, authorities also recovered clothing items believed to have been worn by the person at the time the vehicles were set alight. The detention and the evidence gathered are currently under review.
The MPB confirmed that the investigation is proceeding in coordination with the public prosecutor’s office. Authorities continue to process the findings to establish a full account of the circumstances surrounding the damage to the diplomatic vehicles and to ensure that all necessary legal procedures are followed.
