Official: Arsenal transfers goalkeeper Illan Meslier

Arsenal has completed the transfer of French goalkeeper Illan Meslier, who joins the London club as a free agent. The 26-year-old goalkeeper arrives following a seven-year spell at Leeds United. During his time at Elland Road, Meslier accumulated experience across 215 matches in all competitions, recording 70 clean sheets.

His tenure in the Premier League saw him feature in 107 matches, providing him with considerable top-flight experience. Meslier initially began his professional career at Lorient before making his move to Leeds United on loan in 2019. Following Leeds’ promotion to the Premier League, his transfer to the club became permanent.

The signing strengthens the squad depth for Arsenal. Reports indicate that Meslier is expected to initially assume the role of the third-choice goalkeeper within Mikel Arteta’s plans. However, this positioning remains subject to change depending on the future status or potential transfer of other key players, such as Kepa Arrizabalaga.
