In the village of Cërnicë, located within the Municipality of Gjilani, a significant initiative has been completed: the installation of a comprehensive network of security cameras. This new infrastructure is designed with the primary objectives of enhancing public safety, deterring criminal activity, and safeguarding the property of local residents. The implementation of this vital project was spearheaded by the Local Committee for Public Security (KLSP) in Cërnicë.
The effort required substantial coordination, involving the Project Coordinator for Community and Prevention at the Regional Directorate of Police in Gjilan, alongside the Community Police Unit and the Sector of the Police Station in Gjilan. According to official police announcements, the funding for this technological upgrade was provided by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Furthermore, the Municipality of Gjilan provided crucial logistical support by ensuring the necessary electrical energy supply to maintain the camera system’s continuous operation.
The overarching goal of this security project is to improve the overall public environment. By deploying advanced monitoring capabilities, authorities aim to create a more visible deterrent to crime, thereby increasing the sense of security among the citizenry. The successful collaboration between international donors, local government bodies, and law enforcement agencies underscores a concerted effort to bolster public safety infrastructure in the region.
