Bashkim Ramosaj, the Mayor of the Municipality of Deçani, has announced a planned protest scheduled for tomorrow, September 1, 2026, at 11:00 AM. The demonstration will take place at the “Skënderbeu” Square in Pristina. According to Ramosaj, the gathering is expected to draw participation from various municipalities across the Republic of Kosovo, alongside numerous public administration employees.
The primary objective of the protest is to voice opposition against current governmental approaches that, according to Ramosaj, are impeding the operational capacity of local municipalities and negatively affecting their allocated budgets. During his announcement, Ramosaj cited specific financial concerns, noting that the Government of Kosovo has reportedly taken control of over 344 million euros from the municipalities. He stated that the protest aims to articulate widespread dissatisfaction regarding the perceived failure to address the demands of the local governing bodies.
Furthermore, Ramosaj characterized the current treatment of municipal entities as undignified, selective, and discriminatory. He framed the upcoming demonstration as a unified expression of grievances representing both the voice of the municipalities and the citizens they serve.
