PZAP refuses PDK candidates for re-election; Haxhiu and Kryeziu will address the Supreme [Court/Council].

The Electoral Panel for Complaints and Appeals dismissed complaints filed by two PDK candidates for deputy, Bekim Haxhiu and Qëndrim Kryeziu, concerning the vote recounting process. The panel determined that the errors cited by the candidates did not negatively impact their standing in the election. Both candidates have since announced their intention to appeal the panel’s decision to the Supreme Court, a procedural step that was accepted by the panel after the initial complaint filing.

Specifically, the panel rejected the claim made by PDK deputy candidate Qëndrim Kryeziu, who alleged that the vote recounting process failed to register all votes. In his formal complaint, Kryeziu asserted that the recounting across 185 polling stations revealed a discrepancy of approximately 600 votes against his candidacy. However, the decision issued by the Electoral Panel on April 22 presented a different assessment of the evidence.

The panel concluded that the identified procedural issues were insufficient to warrant overturning the results. The rejection of these formal complaints by the electoral panel marks the conclusion of the initial review stage for these PDK candidates. The subsequent appeals to the Supreme Court represent the next phase of the legal challenge initiated by the concerned candidates.
