Over the past 24 hours, the Crisis Management Center reported that a total of 26 instances of open-area fires were recorded across North Macedonia. As of 07:30, authorities confirmed that there were no active fires, and one specific fire, which originated near the landfill in Kriva Palanka, has been brought under control. The remaining 25 fires have been completely extinguished.
The incidents occurred across numerous municipalities, including Skopje, Sarajevo, Petrovec, Prilep, Strumica, Struga, Kërçova, Kočan, Kumanovo, Gostivar, Tetovo, and others. The QMC noted that the fires impacted various materials, including low vegetation, stubble, debris, landfill sites, and trees. In some instances, vehicles were also affected by the blaze.
The management center confirmed that the situation regarding open-space fires remains under continuous monitoring. The swift action taken by emergency services resulted in the majority of the reported fires being successfully extinguished. The report details the geographical spread and the nature of the materials involved in the various incidents.
Authorities are continuing to monitor conditions to prevent any recurrence of uncontrolled fires.
