Rama: Private security guards who arrested the protester should have been arrested on the spot

Prime Minister Edi Rama commented on the recent protest in Zvërnec during a meeting of the Socialist Party parliamentary group. Rama stated that he would sympathize with the protestors, asserting that he would also engage in civil unrest if placed in their situation. Speaking about the events, Rama criticized the handling of the arrests by private security personnel.

He expressed concern over the manner in which an individual was reportedly taken from an exterior area to an interior section of the property. Specifically, Rama questioned the procedure used by the private guards, describing the action as resembling the handling of an animal. He also highlighted the contradiction in the narrative presented by the state police, which claimed the arrested person had entered the private property voluntarily.

Rama suggested that the guards who carried out the initial arrest should themselves face legal repercussions. He emphasized that the actions taken by the private security detail were questionable when juxtaposed with the official statements. The Prime Minister’s comments indicated a strong critique of the procedures employed by both the private guards and the state authorities concerning the protest incident.
