ROADPOL 2026 action: police take measures against 27 drivers under the influence of alcohol

The Kosovo Police have intensified their presence and implemented increased controls across the country’s roadways. This initiative is part of the week of activities organized under the ROADPOL 2026 plan, specifically targeting enhancements in road traffic safety and accident prevention. These measures were active from September 15 to September 21, 2026.

According to official police announcements, a primary focus of the operation was the rigorous checking of drivers for signs of alcohol impairment. During the period covered by the “Implementation of operational activities according to the ROADPOL plan for June 2026 – ‘Driver Control’,” the traffic units conducted a significant number of checkpoints. Specifically, the police reported carrying out 861 vehicle checkpoints and inspecting 644 drivers.

As a result of these checks, legal measures were taken against 27 drivers who were found to be operating vehicles while under the influence of alcohol. The deployment of these heightened controls reflects a commitment to public safety, aligning with the broader objectives set forth by the European Road Police Network’s ROADPOL framework. The continuous enforcement actions underscore the police’s efforts to maintain safety standards on Kosovo’s roads.
