RTK journalists complain of interference and pressure, SPRTK responds

The Independent Union of Kosovo’s Radio Television (SPRTK) has formally submitted a reaction and complaint to the management and Board of RTK. This action follows multiple reports and complaints detailing ongoing concerns regarding editorial processes and the exercise of professional competencies. The complaint centers on interventions that, according to the SPRTK, violate the professional standards expected of the public broadcaster, as well as the terms outlined in individual employment contracts and internal normative acts.

The Union has demanded an immediate cessation of these alleged interventions, warning of further measures if the practices do not change. The SPRTK emphasized that its review of collected information and reports has identified instances of concerning interference in editorial decision-making occurring at several senior levels within RTK. The Union maintains that such interference compromises the professional autonomy and operational integrity of the broadcaster.

The formal communication serves to address perceived overreach into editorial decision-making, asserting the rights of staff to execute their professional duties without undue external influence. The core of the dispute revolves around maintaining editorial independence and adherence to established professional guidelines within the structure of RTK.
