Shasime Osmani, a citizen of North Macedonia, has been elected as a member of parliament in the Canton of Bern.

The recent elections in the Canton of Bern resulted in the election of 160 deputies. Among those newly elected is Shasime Osmani, who will represent the Canton of Bern in Parliament. Shasime is originally from North Macedonia, specifically from the village of Kercova.

Her family’s journey to Switzerland began in 1979 when her grandfather relocated from Kercova, North Macedonia. Subsequently, her father followed in 1993. Shasime herself arrived in Switzerland with her mother in 1999, at the age of one.

She is currently a law student at the University of Bern, pursuing her studies within the city of bern. She has also earned qualifications in business and possesses a professional diploma. Growing up in the Bümplitz-Bethlehem neighborhood of bern, Shasime experienced firsthand the challenges faced by many children in that area, often encountering educational and social difficulties.

During her campaign, she passionately declared: “I want to be the voice of those who can.”
