Smotrich: Gaza will remain in ruins, in the end there will be migration

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has asserted that the Gaza Strip will remain devastated, suggesting that future migration from the territory is anticipated. Smotrich stated, “Gaza will be left in ruins. In the end there will be migration, because in the coming decades there will be nothing to look for there.”

This comment from the Israeli minister follows a period of extensive destruction, significant casualties, and a severe humanitarian crisis resulting from the war in Gaza.

Smotrich, a prominent right-wing figure within the Israeli government, has previously made controversial remarks concerning the future of Gaza and Israeli authority over the region. These statements have drawn opposition from Palestinian leaders and international organizations, who contest any notion of forced population displacement. Since the commencement of the conflict on October 7, 2023, between Israel and Hamas, casualty figures are substantial.

According to data from the Gaza Ministry of Health, the number of Palestinians killed in the Gaza Strip exceeds 73,000. On the Israeli side, the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, resulted in approximately 1,200 fatalities, in addition to Israeli soldiers who have died during the ongoing conflict. The ongoing situation in Gaza highlights deep disagreements regarding the region’s future and the fate of its residents.
