Gentrit Syla, the Mayor of the Municipality of Pristina, has responded to the circulation of an audio recording that purportedly captures him speaking with a delegate from the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK). The recording allegedly discusses the employment of the delegate’s spouse in exchange for political backing within the parliament. During an appearance on the program “Debat Plus,” Syla strongly refuted the implications of the audio.
He asserted that he does not possess the authority to hire personnel for the Municipality of Pristina. Furthermore, he labeled the released audio recording as manipulated and suggested it was published for the purpose of blackmail. Syla contended that the published conversation was severely taken out of context and presented in a fragmented manner.
“We spoke about different things. The conversation is fragmented in different forms,” he stated. He continued by criticizing the political maneuvering, asserting that the LDK and the team associated with Lumir Abdixhiku were employing tactics reminiscent of those used by Dejona Mihali and Vetëvendosje.
The Mayor maintained that the context of the original discussion has been distorted by the release of this audio. His defense centers on challenging the integrity and completeness of the recording, insisting that the presented snippets do not reflect the entirety or the true meaning of the conversation.
