Tahiri asserted that the swift election of the president was entirely within the reach of Kurti’s actions. He stressed that neither extensions nor a referral to the Constitutional Court were ever required. Speaking on Debat Plus, Tahiri explained that with Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s active engagement, the presidential election would have occurred promptly.
“If Mr. Kurti had genuinely desired to elect the president, he possessed the ability to do so without delay. There would have been no justification for seeking recourse to the Constitutional Court or imposing further deadlines,” Tahiri stated firmly.
He further elaborated that the People’s Democratic Party (PDK) had consistently adopted a productive and cooperative stance throughout the process. The situation hinged on Kurti’s willingness to proceed as planned. Tahiri’s comments underscored the belief that the necessary steps for electing the president were readily available, and the delay stemmed from a lack of decisive action by Kurti.
The PDK maintained its position that a timely election was achievable with the appropriate political commitment.
