Arrest Made in Kaçanik Following Investigation into Alleged War Crimes

Police in Kaçanik have arrested an individual suspected of committing “crimes against the civilian population.” Following an interview, the suspect has been placed in custody. Authorities executed a search of the suspect’s property, during which a number of items were seized and confiscated. These included ammunition, firearms, a uniform belonging to the Municipal Police Unit (MUP), and various other equipment.

The investigation, initiated on March 9, 1999, was conducted by police investigators from the Directorate for the Investigation of War Crimes (PK). Evidence was gathered against the suspect, a male, and a formal arrest took place on April 4, 2026. The confiscated items are currently being processed as part of the ongoing investigation.
