Artana Asani, the director of the Gostivar Municipal Services enterprise, “Komunalec,” has been arrested, according to initial reports. Authorities have also taken into custody two other individuals associated with the enterprise: Leon Nuredini, the technical director, and Vadedin Dervishi, the water supply manager. These three individuals are scheduled to appear before the prosecutor’s office shortly, where a pre-trial judge is expected to issue orders regarding pre-emptive measures.
The developments follow a prior suspension of the director of the Gostivar Municipal Services enterprise by the Mayor of Gostivar Municipality, Valbon Limani. While confirming the suspension, Limani stated that he did not consider himself personally responsible for the underlying issues. Addressing the ongoing situation, Mayor Limani appealed to the relevant competent institutions to conduct the investigation in a manner characterized by objectivity and transparency.
He affirmed that the municipality is committed to fully cooperating with the authorities to ensure that all facts related to the matter are thoroughly verified. The arrests of the director and her collaborators underscore the seriousness of the investigation into the operations of the Gostivar municipal entity.
