The Hague, location of the conference of supreme court presidents from Central and Eastern Europe

Skopje is set to host a significant international gathering tomorrow and the day following: a conference of the presidents of supreme courts from Central and Eastern Europe. The event is organized by the Supreme Court in collaboration with the CEELI Institute, with support provided by the EU Rule of Law Project. Participation in the conference is anticipated from the presidents, vice-presidents, and judges representing 13 supreme courts across the region.

The delegation will be joined by several international legal experts. These include David Campbell, a senior district judge from the US who chairs the Committee for International Judicial Relations and serves on the CEELI Institute’s Advisory Board; Barington Parker, another senior district judge from the US; and Robert R. Strang, the executive director of the CEELI Institute.

The formal proceedings will commence with a solemn opening ceremony tomorrow. During this opening, addresses are scheduled to be delivered by the State President, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, alongside Afrim Fidani. The conference aims to foster dialogue among the highest judicial authorities in the region.

By convening the presidents of these supreme courts, the gathering seeks to address shared legal challenges and promote cooperation in judicial matters across Central and Eastern Europe. The participation of leading international figures underscores the global relevance of the discussions planned for the summit.
